Al Sailiya vs Umm Salal — Will Peregrines conquer Orange Fortress?
After the match between Al Rayyan and Qatar SC, the spotlight will also be on Al Sailiya vs Umm Salal fixture in the QNB Stars League’s Round 7.
The game, to be played at the Al Ahli Stadium on Saturday, will pit the fourth and fifth-placed teams against each other. Only one point separates Umm Salal and Al Sailiya, the latter being on 12. Umm Salal will fight hard to stay in the top four and Al Sailiya to break into the lead quartet.
Both teams have been performing well this season and have notched up four victories each after six rounds. While Umm Salal drew one and lost one match, Al Sailiya lost two games. In Round 6, The Orange Fortress prevailed over Al Khor 1-0, whereas The Peregrines had it easy against a hapless Qatar SC, winning 5-1.
Both have contrasting strengths. Umm Salal have been a defensive side from time to time. This time too, they boast of the strongest defence, which has so far conceded only six goals, the least by any team. On the other hand, Al Sailiya have one of the best attack lines. They share the most number of goals scored (17) along with Al Rayyan.
Thus, Al Sailiya’s attackers Valentin Lazar, Wagner Ribeiro, Dragos Grigore and Temurkhuja Abdulkholikov will be under the scrutiny of Umm Salal’s hardworking defenders and fast-moving forwards. Umm Salal’s charge will be led by Yannick Sagbo, Mahmoud Al Mawas and Ismail Mahmoud.
It will also be a battle for tactical supremacy between Umm Salal’s Egyptian coach Mahmoud Jaber and his Al Sailiya counterpart Sami Trabelsi from Tunisia.
In all ways, it will be an entertaining encounter.
