New Al Duhail captain Yusef Msakni is confident that his side can challege for the QNB Stars League title come the end of the season. Msakni sat down with QSL online ahead of his sides round two match of the week against Al Arabi, which is set to take place on Saturday evening at Al Duhail stadium. 

 

Opening up the interview, Msakni stressed that Al Arabi will be eager to get a result against the Red Knights. “Arabi will be looking for a victory against us on Saturday. They lost in their first match, and will be wanting to making it up to their fans.” 

 

Whilst the Tunisian international remained tight-lipped on his sides tactics heading into the match. “I don’t want to discuss our strengths heading to the match. As a team we are not afraid of Al Arabi, as with any team in the league and we are focused for the game.” 

 

“It’s a posative that we won in our first game of the season in the last minute. It shows our character and our will to win. Qatar SC played well, but we played better and now we are aiming for our second win of the season” added the attacker when asked about Duahil’s opening round win over Qatar SC. 

 

Duhail was formed this year with the merging of El Jaish and Lekhwiya. However despite being the newest side in the QNB Stars League, Msakni feels that they have the quality to compete for the all of the titles on offer. “We are always looking to win titles, our squad is the same as the side that won the league last year as Lekhwiya. This season we are really looking to make inroads in the AFC Champions League.” 

 

Ending the interview, Msakni revealed that his team will be in the title mix come the end of the season. “Of course we will be fighting for the league this season, along with Al Sadd and Al Rayyan who have signed many impressive players in the transfer window. We taking each game at a time, and the whole squad is focused on winning the first league title as Duhail.”
