A double by Wagner Ribeiro and a late strike by Uzbek forward Temurkhuja Abdukholiqov on Saturday helped Al Sailiya fight back from a goal down for a 3-1 win over hosts Al Arabi. Showing good early season form midfielder Ribeiro scored twice for the Peregrines whilst Abdukholiqov struck in the 75th minute to seal the points at Al Arabi Stadium. As for Al Arabi, they opened the scoring through summer signing  from Khalfan Ibrahim.

After a slow start Arabi midfielder Ahmed Fateh picked up a yellow for a reckless body blow on Abdullah Mohammed in the 6th minute. Referee Saoud Ali was quick to slap the yellow card on Fateh for the needless tackle.

In the 14th minute, Al Arabi's Syrian striker Mardik Mardikian was quick to pick up a lose ball and charged towards the Al Sailiya box. Around 20 meters from the goal-line, Mardikian took aim at the goal but Al Sailiyah 'keeper Mahamat Aziz punched the ball away for a corner.

With 23 minutes on the clock Ibrahim, who moved to Al Arabi from Al Sadd in the summer, slipped past three defenders including Magdi Aballah and Dragos Grigore before unleashing smart shot past goalkeeper Aziz, to give his side the lead. Ibrahim, a former Qatar national team striker, celebrated his goal with his teammates and cheering Al Arabi fans as the home side went 1-0 up in spectacular fashion.

Ten minutes later and Sailiya found an equalizer through Ribero who hoodwinked his marker before sending the Al Arabi goalkeeper the wrong way for his side's first goal. The first half finished honours even at 1-1.

Early into the second half, and Sailiya took the lead thanks to a fine free-kick from Ribero. The former El Jaish midfielder curled the ball over the wall, with his shot perfectly nestling into the back of the net.

The away side enjoyed the majority of the ball in the second half, and could of added to their lead on the hour mark. Summer signing Nadir Belhadj - formerly of Al Sadd - fired a slick shot just inches from just outside the box, but his effort was saved by the Arabi keeper.  To wrap up their commanding performance substitute Abdulkholikov found the back of the net from from close range as Al Sailiya celebrated their third goal in the 75th minute.
