Match Report- Qatar SC 1 Al Markhiya 0
Qatar SC registered their first win in the QNB Stars League with a 1-0 win over Al Markhiya on Friday evening at Al Duhail Stadium.
The game started with both teams sharing the possession of the ball, but had to wait until the eighteenth minute of the game to see the first real chance when the Kings striker Habib Habibou seen his header go wide from a corner.
Gabriel Calderón side continued the pressure on their search for the first goal of the game and came close to doing so when the ball dropped to Central African Republic international Habib Habibou in the box, only to see his shot go wide of the goal.
The deadlock was finally broken in the 23rd minute with a great effort from the Kings midfielder Michael Babatunde. The Nigerian cut in from the wing and managed to beat Al Markhiyas goalkeeper with powerful low shot from 23 yards.
The second half started with Al Markhiya enjoying the much of the possession of the ball in their search for an equaliser. Yousuf Adams side had a handful of chances and came close to getting their first goal in the 57th minute from a corner, Kwame Karikari had a free header at the back post, only for the ball to fall into the safe hands of Qatar SC keeper Rajab Kassim.
The Ghanaian striker almost got his reward a few moments later when the ball fell to him at the edge of the box from a bad clearance, however the striker rush his chance with an early shot saved by the keeper.
Yousuf Adams side continued their pressure in their search for an equaliser and had their best chance of the game in the dying minutes. Kwame Karikari squired the ball to substitute Mohammed Elneel, only for the striker to hit the ball over the empty ne.
The results leaves Al Markhiya bottom of the QNB Starts League and still searching for their first win of the 2017/2018 campaign. Meanwhile Qatar SC continued their impressive start to the campaign and will go into their next fixture against Al Arabi full of confidence.
