Pre-Match Press Conference — Al Ahli

Al Ahli coach Joaquin Caparros spoke to the media ahead of their QNB Stars League Round 6 match against Al Arabi.

“The productive show against Qatar SC last week helped us break the jinx of being winless in the league this season. It also enabled us to leapfrog to ninth in the standings. My wards are motivated and working more harder. The last match result has really boosted their confidence. It isn’t that Qatar SC played badly and we won. On the other hand, we played better than them,” said Caparros.

“It’ll be a different matter altogether against Al Arabi. They’ve some good players and they’re a tricky team. They proved that against Al Sadd in the ‘Qatar Derby’. We must bring out our best if we’re to cherish any hope of a victory.’.

“Each game is different. We need to be equally good at both offence and defence, and play at a high level. There’s a new-found harmony among our players and we hope to capitalise on that for better results.

“We never had all four professional players together. Again, our Colombian striker Cristian Nazareth is a doubtful starter for this match. And we’ve relieved many players for national duty,” he said.
