Pre-Match Press Conference — Al Ahli

Al Ahli coach Joaquin Caparros spoke to the media ahead of their QNB Stars League Week 10 match against Al Sailiya.

“It’s an important game. especially since we slipped from sixth to eighth place in the standings following our loss to Al Kharaitiyat in the last round. We lost three valuable points in the process. I’m not at all happy with that result. We could’ve fared better.

“All players are putting in their best efforts in training and beating Al Sailiya, despite their good results of late and better position in the table is possible. We are aware of the fact that Al Sailiya are a strong and stable side. They’re playing under the same coach (Tunisian Sami Trabelsi) for a few seasons and that makes a big difference in their performance. He’s a good coach with astute tactics.

“We will sorely miss regular captain Meshaal Abdullah through a shoulder injury. The other players are fit and raring to go. We struggled initially in the competition due to injuries to key players and national team duties. Now, we’re an organised squad. I’ve coached many teams in Spain. The important thing I learned is that only results matter in football,” said Caparros.
