Pre-Match Press Conference — Al Gharafa
Al Gharafa coach Jean Fernandez spoke to the media ahead of their QNB Stars League Round 7 match against Al Markhiya.
“It’ll be a different ballgame altogether. Our joy knew no bounds after we held champions and leaders Al Duhail to a 1-1 draw last week. However, Al Markhiya are coming after holding Al Kharaitiyat to a goalless draw. Their team spirit is very high. They know fully well that they’re newcomers, so they will look to punch above their weight. They’ve a new coach (Yousef Adam), who is back at the helm, and he knows his players well.
“They’ve many players who were with Al Gharafa for long. We’ve the desire to win and are still looking to shape the squad in a better way and I learn from defeats. My job is to prepare the team and I’m still looking for the best combinations. When we reach that level, we’ll definitely start winning the matches.
“At the moment, we aren’t looking at our position in the league standings. We just look at achieving good results and thereby improve our position in the table. If we get three or four results, like the one we got against Al Duhail, we’ll be better off,” said the Frenchman.
