Pre-Match Press Conference — Al Gharafa

Al Gharafa coach Jean Fernandez spoke to the media ahead of their QNB Stars League Week 9 match against Umm Salal.

“We haven’t been having a good run of late and it’s time we put behind the disappointments and start winning matches. Seven points from eight games do not augur well for us. Definitely, we’ll be motivated against Al Rayyan for many reasons.

“We had put up a good show against Al Sailiya, but lost. Our performance hasn’t been stable and we need to show consistency. We played well in some matches. But in some other games, we created a lot of opportunities, but didn’t score and paid the price for that.

“Our game is generally good and I’m happy with that. We’re confident that if we maintain concentration, we can perform well against Al Rayyan. Our attack has to be sharpened as we’ve scored only 10 goals and conceded 12. We must be showing more efficiency in the rival area. I hope my boys will come really good against Al Rayyan.

“Playing at the renovated Khalifa International Stadium is another motivation for us. It should boost the players’ confidence,” said Fernandez.
