Pre-Match Press Conference — Al Khor

Al Khor coach Laurent Banide spoke to the media ahead of their QNB Stars League Round 6 match against Umm Salal.

“The match against Umm Salal assumes much significance after our loss to promoted side Al Markhiya. We’re hellbent on achieving a positive result. We had worked for about a whole week in a good way as part of preparations for this game. I wish we get full points. Umm Salal are a good side with great potential. I’ve the experience of coaching them in 2008. They’re a balanced side, but we’re optimistic.

“We made some mistakes during our last game against Al Markhiya, we need to rectify them in the coming matches. We created scoring opportunities and could’ve won the game. We badly need a turnaround in our fortunes as we’ve lost two matches in a row.

“Umm Salal are currently fourth in the QNB Stars League standings with 10 points, while we’re eighth on four points. We must be winning matches,” said the Frenchman.

Al Khor’s only victory came against Al Ahli in the second round. They had also lost their matches in the QSL Cup, held during the international break, to Al Gharafa and Al Kharaitiyat.
