Pre-Match Press Conference — Al Sailiya

Al Sailiya coach Sami Trabelsi spoke to the media ahead of their QNB Stars League Week 9 match against Al Khor.

“We’re in a better position in the standings this season and I’m very happy with my boys’ showing. But that doesn’t mean we aren’t approaching each game seriously. We’re now up against an Al Khor side, which has improved a lot under new coach Nassif Al Bayawi. They proved that during their victory over Qatar SC last week.

“Even though we defeated Al Gharafa last week, I’m not happy with our performance overall. The players didn’t fare as I had expected them to do. And we’ve rectified some mistakes after that match.

“It happens in football that players get complacent and overconfident when you keep winning. I’m trying to avoid that situation. It happened to us last season and that adversely affected our campaign. However, this time around, they’re more matured and professional on that front.

“We’re aware that Al Khor can be a tricky side, especially when they play on home soil. They’re also a charged-up lot, so we’re prepared for the game and we expect a stiff resistance from them,” said Trabelsi.
