Pre-Match Press Conference — Qatar SC

Qatar SC coach Gabriel Calderon spoke to the media ahead of their QNB Stars League Week 9 match against Umm Salal.

“We’ve yet again suffered a defeat. If we keep losing like this, a comeback won’t be possible. Our players are trying their best and we expect a difficult game against Umm Salal, who will also be keen to collect points after a two-match losing streak that saw them slip from the top four.

“Umm Salal are a strong side. They’ve a good striker in Yannick Sagbo. I’m expecting a difficult game. Their defence will be hard to breach. Our problem is that we keep repeating our mistakes.

“Our local players are performing to their potential, but professionals are not. I must admit that we’ve made some judgmental errors in selecting our foreign imports. For most teams, 95 per cent of the goals are being scored by professional players. However, in our case, the reverse is happening. That has put us in a bother spot.

“I’m happy that Nigerian striker Michael Babatunde will return to action after missing the last match due to suspension,” said Calderon, who dismissed rumours that he would quit soon and would be replaced with Abdullah Mubarak.
