Pre-Match Press Conference — Umm Salal
Umm Salal coach Mahmoud Jaber spoke to the media ahead of their QNB Stars League Week 9 match against Qatar SC.
“We’re coming from two successive defeats (against Al Sailiya and Al Sadd) and we’re keen to register a victory. We’ve a strong feeling that we’ll come back stronger. We’ve assessed the videos of the last two games particularly and have corrected some errors. Hopefully, we’ll come out with flying colours against Qatar SC.
“We’ve observed that the players are losing concentration after conceding a goal. That calls for them to stay focused and bring out their best throughout the game. We’ve to strengthen our defence, which was our strong point. But we conceded too many goals in the last couple of matches. That aspect has let us down.
“Against Al Sadd, we were strong in the first half, but lost the plot after the break. The self-goal didn’t help our cause either and the players got disheartened.
“We’ll miss three key players for this match through injuries and suspension. Midfielder Adel Alawi will be sorely missed as he had picked up his fourth yellow card in the last game. Maher Youssef has also been suspended. However, striker Mohammed El Sayed has recovered from his injury and I hope to field him,” said Mahmoud.
