Pre-Match Press Conference - Al Ahli

Al Ahli’s Spanish coach Joaquin Caparros sounded desperate for a victory when he spoke to  the media ahead of their QNB Stars League Round 5 match against Qatar SC.

“This is a crucial game from our point of view. We’ve had too many disappointments so far this season and we need to win this match. We’ll throw our everything into it, so we can have something to cheer as we move up the standings gradually,” said Caparros.

“We’ve a good group of players. I’m happy with our local and professional players. During training and matches, I can see their determination. I’ve also seen their competitive spirit. Our results aren’t a fair reflection on them, though.

“Injuries to some key players are mainly affecting our performances. I hope this match result will favour us. It could be a huge morale-booster for us,” he said.

Caparros lavished praise on their first-choice goalkeeper Mohammed Mubarak, who also addressed the Press Conference.

“He works hard during training and we’re lucky to have him from Al Arabi this season,” said the Spaniard.

The coach ruled out rumours that he was under pressure from the team management.

“I’m not under any sort of pressure. I’ve had lots of experience in Spain. The team management knows that you’ve to be patient to get good results,” he signed off.
