Pre-Match Press Conference - Al Khor

Al Khor coach Laurent Banide looks forward to their QNB Stars League Round 5 match against rock-bottom side Al Markhiya as an opportunity to garner three points and thus make up for the lost points in the previous outings. The Frenchman spoke to the media ahead of the game.

“In my opinion, Al Markhiya are tough opponents. They had beaten Al Sadd in the very first round, no matter the overturned result for fielding an ineligible player. Then they fared well in the two QSL Cup fixtures against Al Sadd and Al Arabi. It’s a fact that they’re a promoted team and stay at the rock-bottom. Yet, they’ve the potential to throw up surprises. We’re ready for the battle,” said Banide.

“At the same time, we must show a desire to win matches and make up for the lost points in previous rounds. We must compensate for the five points we dropped in the matches against Al Gharafa (lost) and Al Kharaitiyat (draw).

“Even in the game against Al Rayyan, which we lost 2-4 in the opening round, we showed a good level of play. It’s good that our players are gelling well as a group. If we can further improve the team spirit, that’ll make a lot of difference in our game,” he said.

Al Khor’s only victory came against Al Ahli in Round 2.
