Pre-Match Press Conference - Umm Salal

Umm Salal coach Mahmoud Jaber spoke to the media ahead of their high-profile QNB Stars League Round 5 match against leaders Al Duhail.

“I take all matches seriously and all points are important. We always prepare in right earnest and, this time, our preparations are harder as we run into champions and leaders Al Duhail. We’ve had some tough matches so far in this season’s league, but the one against Al Duhail is going to be different. We’ve to further lift our game if we’re to win. We’re highly motivated for this game and I hope the players and fans of both teams will enjoy the action,” said Mahmoud.

“The league is very long, and we’re assessing the prospects of ourselves and other teams in depth. Against Al Duhail, I can’t reveal the technical details, but one thing is sure. We’ll continue to put up strong performances. We’ll sorely miss Maher Yousef, who is still recovering from an injury, against Al Duhail,” he said.

Asked whether Umm Salal’s game revolved around Ivorian striker Yannick Sagbo, who scored a hat-trick against Al Arabi in their last match, pat came the reply.

“No. Notwithstanding the fact Sagbo is a special player, we can’t expect him to win us all games single-handedly. We’ve many other scorers,” he concluded.
