QNB Stars League’s second-phase schedule released

The Qatar Stars League Management (QSLM) released the QNB Stars League’s second-phase schedule on Tuesday. Accordingly, the tournament will resume on 11th January, 2018, after the conclusion of Gulf Cup in Kuwait (22nd December to 5th January).

The announcement was made after close co-ordination and careful consultations with all stakeholders such as the Ministry of Culture and Sports, Facilities and Security Departments, Qatar Football Association and National Teams Department to choose the most suitable days for league matches and avoid a situation where the players’ club and country duties clash.

The AFC Champions League engagements of Al Duhail, Al Sadd, Al Rayyan and Al Gharafa were also taken into consideration.

The QSLM held a meeting with team coaches. It was decided to schedule the games on three days (Thursday, Friday, Saturday) whenever possible with more focus on Fridays and Saturdays as that will help the sponsors and partners to promote their brands more.

At the same time, it is not possible to organise matches on three days in some weeks, such as Rounds 20, 21 and 22, due to AFC Champions League games as well as national team fixtures in March.

It was also decided to schedule crucial rounds, that may determine the top positions and relegation spots, either on two days or one day after weighing the situation that prevails then so as not to give undue advantage to any team.

Convenient kick-off times for spectators at the stadiums as well as telecast purposes and sunset prayer timings were also taken into account.
