QNB Stars League Match Report — Al Khor 2 Al Duhail 4

Individual performances to the fore

The QNB Stars League Round 7 game between leaders Al Duhail and Al Khor was mainly marked by two outstanding individual performances. In the end, Al Duhail maintained their unbeaten run with a 4-2 victory over the hosts.

Tunisian attacking midfielder Youssef Msakny was the star of the night at the Al Khor Stadium with a stellar performance. He scored two goals, in the 30th minute and first-half stoppage time, and set up Luis Martin Junior for a goal in between in the 34th. Abdullah Al Ahrak netted the winners’ other goal in second-half injury time.

Brazilian forward Madson shone for Al Khor with a brace (68th-minute penalty and 88th minute) as well.

Al Duhail thus continued to top the standings with 19 points, while Al Khor have only four after seven games.

Al Duhail, who were held by Al Gharafa in the last round, meant business straightaway and Msakni played the captain’s role to perfection. He first found the mark with a diagonal shot from the left and then capitalised on a mistimed header by Al Khor’s Khalid Nawaf, aimed at goalkeeper Amine Lecomte. In between, he saw Luis Martin answer his back pass with an on-the-run bullet shot from distance.

Al Duhail took their feet off the pedal in the second half, whereas Al Khor did all what they could and came Madson’s brilliance. However, Al Ahrak’s goal sealed the issue in the visitors’ favour.

Al Duhail next play Al Kharaitiyat and Al Khor take on Qatar SC.
