QNB Stars League Week 10 — Saturday Preview
The QNB Stars League’s Week 10 matches on Saturday will be Al Duhail vs Al Markhiya (16:00) and Al Sailiya vs Al Ahli (18:10). Al Duhail play at home, whereas the second game is scheduled at the Al Ahli Stadium, which hosts Al Sailiya’s home engagements.
Al Duhail vs Al Markhiya
It will be a contest between two contrastingly-placed sides. Table toppers Al Duhail will leave no stone unturned for another victory and keep their unbeaten run. The only time they dropped points was when they were held by Al Gharafa.
Al Duhail, who beat Al Sadd 4-2, have 25 points against six of Al Markhiya, who drew 1-1 with Al Arabi.
The Red Knights have the league’s top scorer (15 goals) Youssef El Arabi leading their challenge. Captain Youssef Msakni, Nam Tae-Hee and Ismail Mohammed are all players of high calibre.
There is no reason to believe that Algerian Djamel Belmadi’s men will not have the last laugh.
Al Markhiya coach Yousef Adam sounded realistic while addressing the pre-match Press conference when he said they would be happy with a draw.
It is time The Oryxes started collecting more points in order to stay in the First Division as the relegation battle is also hotting up.
Al Sailiya vs Al Ahli
Al Sailiya had started their preparations for this match well in advance. Tunisian Sami Trabelsi’s wards will surely look to get back to winning ways and extend their stay in the top four.
The Peregrines, with Uzbek striker Temurkhuja Abdukholiqov and Wagner Ribeiro being their main men, maintained their fourth position in tact with 18 points despite losing 0-1 to Al Khor last week.
The loss to Al Khor was their first in four matches. They have no injury worries and all key players, except suspended midfielder Majdi Siddiq, are likely to start the game.
Spaniard Joaquin Caparros’ Al Ahli will be keen to put behind their 0-1 loss to Al Kharaitiyat that made them slip from sixth to eighth. The Brigadiers cannot avail of the services of regular captain Meshaal Abdullah, who is recuperating from a shoulder injury.
However, they can take solace from the fact that all professional players are available for selection as injuries to some of them and international commitments saw the team being at the receiving end initially in the league.
