QNB Stars League Week 18 — Qatar SC 0 Al Rayyan 4

Riding on Abderrazaq Hamdallah’s two goals, Al Rayyan defeated hosts Qatar SC 4-0 in Week 18 of the QNB Stars League on Sunday.

Al Rayyan took their points tally to 39, while Qatar SC stayed on 18 points.

Hamdallah (25th and 37th minutes), Mohsine Moutouali (62nd) and Rodrigo Tabata (83rd) scored the goals.

The total number of goals netted by Hamdallah in this season’s QNB Stars League thus stands at 15, while Tabata took his tally to 12.

Qatar SC were coming off back-to-back wins against Al Sailiya and Al Ahli. However, The Kings could not do much against the determined Lions.

Al Rayyan made clear their intentions right from the start. And their top scorer, Moroccan striker Hamdallah, was in the thick of the action by scoring twice after missing an easy chance.

Hamdallah’s first goal came following an assist by Moroccan midfielder Moutouali, while South Korean Koh Myong-Jin paved the way for the second.

That Al Rayyan had 61 per cent of ball possession at the end of opening session was a reflection of their dominance.

Al Rayyan continued to be on the front foot after restart even though Qatar SC put up a better performance, giving a busy time to goalkeeper Saoud Al Khater.

Moutouali made it 3-0 after the hour mark and Al Rayyan, having been assured of their 12th victory, rested Hamdallah and in came Sebastian Soria, who has so far scored 10 goals, in the 68th minute.

Qatar SC, meanwhile, had their best chance to score when Ali Awad found himself unmarked in front of the goal in the 80th minute, but his shot was blocked by Saoud.

Three minutes later, Tabata rounded off the score after he linked up with Soria and capitalised on confusion among the rival defenders.

Qatar SC sorely missed striker Patrick Fabiano as he has yet to recover from his nagging injury. The Brazilian had trained with the team ahead of the game and was expected to take the field.

Syrian striker Osama Omari, who had scored all three goals in their last two matches, could not make any inroads either.
