Al Sadd and Qatar SC will fight it out in the much-anticipated, highlight match in Round 4 of the QNB Stars League at the Al Sadd Stadium on Sunday evening. The kick-off is at 19:40.
The match assumes great importance for both sides. During the league’s two-week break due to international competitions, Al Sadd had lost both their QSL Cup matches (0-2 to Al Markhiya and 1-5 to Al Rayyan). They had fielded many youngsters in those fixtures with the purpose of preparing them for the future.
Qatar SC too played two matches in the QSL Cup. While they had it easy against Al Duhail, The Kings were held by Al Sailiya in the second round. They had also given chances to youngsters.
Going into the fourth round, Al Sadd are second on goal difference behind Al Duhail. The Wolves defeated Al Markhiya, Al Sailiya and Al Gharafa. They had actually lost to Al Markhiya, but the Qatar Football Association’s Disciplinary Committee overturned the verdict as the rivals had fielded an ineligible player.
Lots of Al Sadd fans are expecting an even better performance from this team. Last season’s Qatar Cup champions and Emir Cup runners-up will definitely work harder, so they can garner maximum number of points this time.
Algerian star Baghdad Bounedjah is expected to return to the team against Qatar SC. He had missed their first three games due to an injury. Al Sadd also rely on stars such as Xavi Hernandez, Jugurta Hamroun, Ali Asad, Hassan Al Haidous and Boualem Khokhi. Portuguese coach Jesualdo Ferreira is sure to field his best players for this fixture.
Qatar SC, coached by Argentinian Gabriel Calderon, also worked hard in order to prepare the players for this tough game. They have only three points from their win over Al Markhiya in Round 2. They had lost to Al Duhail and Al Arabi.
However, their overall level of performance is quite good. The team has a number of quality players such as Habib Habibo, Papa Tondi, Mohamed Tayebi, Fahad Khalfan, Ali Jassemi and Omar Al Emadi.
Sparks are expected to fly on Sunday evening. The questions doing the rounds are ‘will Al Sadd keep winning? Or will Qatar SC extend their good form? Or will it be a tied match?
