Weiss to undergo cruciate ligament surgery
Al Gharafa’s attacking midfielder Vladimir Weiss will undergo a surgery to correct the cruciate ligament of his knee at Qatar’s orthopaedic and sports medicine hospital Aspetar on December 12.
The Slovak had to be stretchered off the field towards the end of first half during their 3-1 victory over Al Arabi in Week 10 of the QNB Stars League. Tests carried out confirmed that he had a cut in the cruciate ligament, an injury players fear because of its long recovery period.
The absence of Weiss, who has effectively been ruled out for the remaining matches this season, will adversely affect the performance of Al Gharafa, who are seventh in the standings with 10 points.
Meanwhile, Al Gharafa players started preparations for their Week 11 match against Qatar SC under the watchful eyes of French coach Jean Fernandez.
